Dear Parents,
Advent season is a time of waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. Waiting is difficult for young children, the Advent season is a good time for them to learn about patience and preparing as a way to handle the waiting time. We will expose children to holiday vocabulary through books and songs; reading stories to children about the spirit of the Christmas season. Singing songs about Jesus are simple ways for children to learn and experience the value and enjoyment of Advent (waiting) for the celebration of Christmas.
As children do their calendar activities they are also counting down how many more days before Christmas.
Toys are stressed in many of the activities in December. Allow your children to enjoy play time with their toys with or without friends. Play time provides clues about a child’s interests, attention span, stage of play development, social skills (example, ability to share and take turns), ability to manipulate toys, and their imaginative and creative use of toys.
Let us be patient as the children continue to work on putting on outerwear (sweater, jacket, coat, hat and gloves) work on fasteners, including zippers and buttons.
