I am honored to be pastor of a church with a dynamic elementary school, which is an integral part of our parish ministry. I enjoy frequent interaction with parents and their children and seek both spiritual and academic development for all our students.

I thoroughly enjoy working with the teachers and parents in order to provide the best learning environment for the students. This small, faith-filled community seeks academic excellence, celebrates diversity and takes advantage of the many cultural resources that surround our downtown campus.

As a cradle Catholic and mission-oriented educational leader (including international mission work), I am a compassionate professional with a passion for Catholic education and an unwavering commitment to optimizing student and school success. I humbly believe in Truth and Justice as administered through the Cardinal Virtues and supported by Heavenly Grace. Through intelligent fidelity and experiential love, it is my mission to help our community fully appreciate His Mercy, His Goodness, His Justice and His Love while recognizing each child’s potential and personal best. That being said, I am devoted to creating a positive environment which nurtures the creative spirit of the whole child while challenging each one to live a life of faith, virtue, and excellence. In a world demanding a 21st-century skill set, I say why not foster 21st-century saints?

I have been a member of the St. Peter’s School family since 1996. I thoroughly enjoy working with our talented staff, interacting with our loving families, and caring for our wonderful students in this faith-filled environment.

Suzy Madden

Special Education Consultant

M.Ed., Columbia College
In the past twenty years, I have worked as both a special educator and special education consultant with Richland School District One. Four years ago, at Cardinal Newman Catholic School, I started a full inclusion program for students with intellectual disabilities. I am currently the Director of Specialized Learning there, which allows students with mild disabilities to receive accommodations that make learning accessible to them. I look forward to working with the teachers, staff, parents, and students of St. Peter’s to promote the inherent dignity of all.

Dr. Carol S. Sunderman

Curriculum Consultant

B.A., Georgia State University
M.A. in Education, Furman University
Ph.D. in Education Administration, University of South Carolina

I am a retired South Carolina School District Administrator and a member of St. Peter’s Church. I still perform contract work for the State Department of Education each week. However, my BEST days are those spent at St. Peter’s School. My role is to evaluate test scores, assist teachers with curriculum resources, and provide professional development as needed. St. Peter’s has a great faculty, wonderful support staff, and an excellent Principal. They all work together to provide the children with a first-rate education as well as a safe, loving, and supportive environment. St. Peter’s is the kind of school I wish all children could experience.

Alana Jordan

Development Director

B.A., University of South Carolina School of Journalism

I have been working in the communications field in the Columbia area for more than a decade and was introduced to St. Peter’s Catholic School in 2016 when my child was enrolled in K4. I have found the school to be a nurturing and caring environment that allows children to be children, while also challenging them to achieve to their fullest potential.

In my role as Development Director, I am responsible for student recruitment, fundraising, and financial aid.
