I am honored to be pastor of a church with a dynamic elementary school, which is an integral part of our parish ministry. I enjoy frequent interaction with parents and their children and seek both spiritual and academic development for all our students.

Guidance Counselor

B.A., Erskine College
M.Ed., University of South Carolina

Not many people actually get to do what they want to do when they grow up, but I did! I love being a school guidance counselor and being at St. Peter’s makes it perfect. Assisting with students in the basic guidance areas of learning to live, learning to learn, and learning to work is a privilege. Teaching students in twice monthly guidance lessons, talking with them individually, and seeing them in small groups gives me the opportunity to know each child and to help foster a lifelong quest for knowledge. St. Peter’s students, parents, and staff work together as would a large, loving family.

I have been a member of the St. Peter’s School family since 1996. I thoroughly enjoy working with our talented staff, interacting with our loving families, and caring for our wonderful students in this faith-filled environment.

Suzy Madden

Special Education Consultant

M.Ed., Columbia College
.
In the past twenty years, I have worked as both a special educator and special education consultant with Richland School District One. Four years ago, at Cardinal Newman Catholic School, I started a full inclusion program for students with intellectual disabilities. I am currently the Director of Specialized Learning there, which allows students with mild disabilities to receive accommodations that make learning accessible to them. I look forward to working with the teachers, staff, parents, and students of St. Peter’s to promote the inherent dignity of all.

Curriculum Consultant

B.A., Georgia State University
M.A. in Education, Furman University
Ph.D. in Education Administration, University of South Carolina

I am a retired South Carolina School District Administrator and a member of St. Peter’s Church. I still perform contract work for the State Department of Education each week. However, my BEST days are those spent at St. Peter’s School. My role is to evaluate test scores, assist teachers with curriculum resources, and provide professional development as needed. St. Peter’s has a great faculty, wonderful support staff, and an excellent Principal. They all work together to provide the children with a first-rate education as well as a safe, loving, and supportive environment. St. Peter’s is the kind of school I wish all children could experience.

I attended Catholic schools in Massachusetts and have always supported the mission of our schools. My son attended St. Peter’s School, and the teachers here inspired him to follow in their footsteps and become a teacher. I am proud to be part of a great team at St. Peter’s and to work in a great school.

Development Director

B.S., Skidmore College
Postgraduate Study, Journalism and Mass Communications, New York University

My background is very varied, from working on the editorial staff of several New York City publishing houses, to being Assistant Director of Public Relations at New York University’s School of Continuing Education, to working as a Communications Consultant in Washington, D.C., on a Presidential Commission. In all my professional positions, I have relied on the strong foundation in English language skills that my Catholic education provided. As Development Director, I am involved in recruiting new students and the financial aid process as well as fundraising and outreach to the local community to develop greater awareness of our school. My motto is: if you want to give your child the best, send him or her to St. Peter’s Catholic School!
