February 13, 2018

Dear Parents,
Our lesson in Religion this week is about “God’s gift of air”. The activities include, feeling air blown through a straw, observing wind moving objects, discussing our need to breathe air, pretending to move like wind, and listening to a story about a hot-air balloon ride.

This week we will be focusing on Dental Health. Our students will share any experiences they may have had when visiting the dentist. We will talk about going to the dentist for a check-up if teeth hurt or even if they feel fine and learn things to help keep teeth healthy.

On Wednesday, we will introduce the meaning of Valentine’s Day as a special day when we share our love with the people around us and discuss feelings and how the actions of others can affect how we feel. We will emphasize sharing, caring, helping and being a good friend.

This will be the first time in many years that Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday are on the same day. We will try to keep these two events separate and distinct during our discussions and make sure that the children recognize the religious significance of Ash Wednesday compared to Valentine’s Day.

In Science we will be exploring and discussing the concept and characteristics of magnetism.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
