Dear Kindergarten Families,
Happy New Year! My name is Mrs. Creech and I will be your child’s teacher for the remainder of the school year. In December, I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education, and thrilled that I get to focus my energy, creativity, and strong communication skills to help your child thrive and fulfill their greatest potential.
I am so excited to be joining your child on his or her journey through school. Kindergarten is an exciting time and an important part of setting the foundation for their future success in school!
I believe that going to school shouldn’t be a chore for children, it should be a safe haven for them to discover what they are good at, explore subjects that appeal to them, and ultimately, show their true colors. My goal is to continue to inspire and prepare your child for the road ahead.
In doing this, I have enforced a new behavioral incentive reward system. A large incentive chart will be placed in the classroom for all students to see. When good or extraordinary behavior is observed, the student(s) will place a sticker on the chart next to their name. They will receive a treat/select an item from a “treasure box” for every 5 stickers placed next to their name. If your child exhibits poor behavior stickers will be removed.
This system can be used to interchangeably recognize individual, whole group, and small group accomplishments. It is intended to be used throughout the day and can be especially effective when trying to solidify routines and procedures. This also helps with skip counting and graphing skills!
A daily behavior check sheet will be taped to the inside of your child’s daily folder so you can see their behavior patterns throughout the week. Your signature is required each day.
In addition, I would like to invite you to let me know a little bit about your child by completing the ‘Through Your Eyes’ form that was sent home in today’s Tuesday folder. You are your child’s original teacher and are the largest influence on their life. Please return the form by Tuesday, January 15.
Last but not least, it would be greatly appreciated if you could please return your child’s plastic pencil box that was previously sent home. Also, you are responsible for making sure your child has a snack each day.
I look forward to being part of your child’s learning experience. If you need to contact me please don’t hesitate to send a note, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone the school at (803) 252-8285. I look forward to hearing from each of you and learning about your child!
