A Note From Mrs. Phillips
Congratulations to Micah for making his First Holy Communion on Saturday! I am so proud of all he has accomplished this year to be ready for this special day.
This month, we celebrate Mary! The Rosary and May Crowning will be on Monday, May 15th, and I encourage everyone to attend this beautiful prayer service.
May is full of activities for the school, so be sure to check your calendars each week and I look forward to teaching for the next 24 school days!
In Class This Week…
Religion: The class will continue reading our new mystery novel titled “Break-In at the Basillica”. The class will also learn about Mary and why she was so important to our Catholic faith.
Reading: The class has begun our poetry unit! We are discussing many types of poetry and will continue to read some of my favorite Shel Silverstein poems! The students will also become poets themselves as they write.
Language Arts: The class will continue adjectives this week. There will be spelling words this week based on the -ar, -er, adn -or endings. Their test will be Friday.
Math: The class will continue with long division practice this week! I am proud of many of the students who are flying through their multiplication testing. Only 24 more days to get to the finish line!
Science: The class will continue life science this week with plants and how they grow and live. We have been tasked to create a garden for the school!
Social Studies: The class will look more closely at the other 12 colonies and what they did to contribute to the birth of our nation. We will finish the northern colonies this week. As per other social studies units, the class is learning how to take notes and use a graphic organizer to write their facts on.
