A Note From Mrs. Phillips
Let all that you do be done in love. 1 Corinthians 16:14
Happy St. Valentine’s Week! What a week for love. We love multiplication tables. We love spelling words. We love “Little House on the Prairie”. We love pronouns. We love South Carolina. We love living things. We love God. But most of all, we love each other.
On Friday, we will celebrate St. Valentine all day long! We will learn about his life and his works as well as what he wanted us to learn about selfless acts of love. Check you emails for more information on Valentine’s to send in. Just a reminder that you all have a class list in your child’s STAR binder.
In class this week…
Religion: In religion this week, the class will learn about the life of St. Valentine and what he teaches about love.
Reading: The students will continue with our “Little House on the Prairie” novel. We will continue the lapbook of comprehension questions as well. On Friday of last week, the class created paper dolls to go along with their covered wagon. They learned about the simple toys the Ingalls girls had to play with. This week, we learn how Pa built their house and what trials and tribulations he encountered.
Language Arts: The class will continue pronouns this week. Their spelling test with both spelling and definition will be next Friday. STAR homework due this Friday.
Math: This week in math, we will continue multiplication! We will continue to focus on the 7, 8, and 9’s this week. I recommend purchasing a set of flash cards to keep in backpacks and to study each night. The Dollar Tree has perfectly acceptable ones. Be sure to ask yous child about math groups! They are loving them!
Science: In science, we will continue to look into what a living thing is and what characteristics they exhibit. The students will complete a lab based on living things outside this week!
Social Studies: The class has finished regions of South Carolina and will review and test on Thursday this week.
