A Note From Mrs. Phillips
This week is a short one, and I hope you all enjoy your time off with family. On Saturday the school will host its annual auction! This year, it is being held at the State Museum with food catered by Blue Marlin. Yummm! I hope to see all of you there! You can get tickets in the front office or online. It is sure to be a roaring time!
In class this week…
Religion: In religion this week, the class will learn about both the Corporal and Spiritual Works of Mercy. As we approach Lent, we will use these works to help guide us through the 40 days of Lent. Through this Lenten time, we will look at each one more closely.
Reading: The students will continue with our “Little House on the Prairie” novel. We will continue the lapbook of comprehension questions as well. On Friday of last week, the class built log homes and barns and recreated the chapters we read. Their creativity was endless! This week, we learn how Pa helps his fellow neighbors and how they in turn help him. We learn what being a good neighbor is truly all about.
Language Arts: The class will continue pronouns this week. Their spelling test with both spelling and definition will be this Friday. The class will focus more on definitions in class. STAR homework also due this Friday, but due to Monday off, only 3 assignments are due.
Math: This week in math, we will continue multiplication! We will continue to focus on the 10, 11, and 12’s this week. This will be our last week of fact work in the classroom. Be sure to ask your child about math groups! They are loving them!
Science: In science this week, we will learn about the life cycle of plants.
Social Studies: The class will test on the regions of SC on Tuesday. This was pushed back from last week due to special events in the school taking our S.S. time. We will begin explorers this week!
