February Newsletter
Dear Parents,
In Religious Education we will talk about the importance and value of light, water and air as natural resources and in our everyday living as a gift from God. Children will develop a greater awareness of God’s gift of Animals. They will try to learn the animals by name and where they live.
In class, children will use bar graphs to help visually classify animals according to their habitat or environment in which various animals generally live.
We will introduce the meaning of Valentine’s Day as a special day when we share our love with the people around us and discuss feelings and how the actions of others can affect how we feel. We will emphasize sharing, caring, helping and being a good friend.
President’s Day makes it a great time to learn about our Presidents: past and present. We will focus on Leadership and Good Citizenship.
We will continue with our study about Non-Standard Measurement by using everyday items such as paper clips, popsicle sticks and string. Children will also, learn about the concept of measuring time – today, yesterday, tomorrow, day before, day after, as well as, weeks, months and years.
We
are celebrating National Dental Health Month. So it is the perfect time to talk
about how and why we need to take good care of our teeth. Our students will
share any experiences they may have had when visiting the dentist. We will talk
about going to the dentist for a check-up if teeth hurt or even if they feel
fine and learn things to help keep teeth healthy.
