January 2019 Newsletter

Dear Parents,

Happy New Year! We hope that you and your family enjoyed the holiday season and the pleasure of being with family and friends.

Let’s all look ahead for more exciting learning opportunities for our K4 children. We will be talking about the “New Year”, the twelve months of the year and learning about important things that happen during each month. We will incorporate Science with discussions about Buoyancy, Migration and Hibernation. In Social Studies we will talk about Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

In Math, we will continue to identify, create, extend and verbally describe a pattern of concrete objects. We will be introducing Non-Standard Measurement by using words like: long, short, tall, the same length, light, heavy, holds more and holds less.

During our story time, children will predict events in a story (we will ask predictive questions during the story telling “What will the character do next?”) or the children will be asked to provide a new story ending (after reading a story, we will let the children think and dictate their own story endings).

Please keep seasonally appropriate change of clothes, hat, gloves including underwear and socks in your child’s backpack for the cold weather. Please label everything.
