As we enter in our fourth week of school, and further into the month of September, we will be starting our second week of homework. For the homework, students have until the next Tuesday to complete it and bring it back with them to school. If a student finishes it early and wants to turn it in, they are more than welcome to do so.
This week in class, we will have a lot to learn! In ELA, we will be identifying the number of words in sentences and how these words come together to make a sentence. We will also learn with the sight words “Am”, “An”, “And”, “Are”, “As” and “At”, as well as practicing with the short and long sounds of the vowel “a.” In Social Studies, we will be learning about finding the differences and similarities between different families. In Science, we are continuing our unit on body parts and their functions. The class has been doing wonderfully with identifying the parts of the body and describing in detail what that part of the body can do. In math, we will be reviewing the shape of a triangle, and will continue to work and identify the characteristics of a square and a rectangle.
Next Monday, on September 16th, it will be an early dismissal day. School will end at 2:00 pm rather than the usual time. The After School Program will be available on this day. Also, each student will be taking home six flashcards. Each flashcard has one of the six sight words of the week written on it. Please have your child practice writing and spelling out each word. On Friday, we will have a sight word quiz.
We are looking forward to another great week of school!
