The children will be learning about the Advent season and Christmas. Advent is a time of waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. Waiting is difficult for young children, the Advent season is a good time for them to learn about patience and preparing.
Reading and listening to Christmas stories and singing Christmas Carols help us to get into the spirit of Christmas. We will share Christmas holiday vocabulary through books and songs. Thoughts such as love, giving, sharing and compassion stand out as guiding rays of light which take on a special sense of importance in our spiritual and social lives. This time of the year brings out the best in us and we are more apt to share with others who don’t have as much as we do.
As children works on their calendar activities they are also counting down the days to Christmas. We will integrate language, math, social studies, arts, music and science into their active schedule. The children will be busy creating projects on various subjects and themes.
All of us at St. Peters Catholic School wish you and your family a very
Merry, Merry Christmas!
