A Note From Ms. Gurn
This week there is an early dismissal on Monday at 2:00 pm. The After School Program is available from 2:30-5:00. Also, the third quarter ends on March 21st. I was very proud of my class for working so hard on their science projects. Thank you to everyone who joined us to witness all that they have learned.
Join us for Stations of the Cross 11:00-11:30 this Friday in the church and every Wednesday at the school Mass from 8:30-9:30 am.

This Week In Class
Reading/Writing Workshop: This week we will learn how to write the body paragraphs of our research papers. Each body paragraph should have a strong main idea topic sentence with supporting evidence. We will also learn the difference between paraphrasing and quoting.
Spelling Words: The spelling words this week will be focused on words that end in “y” and need to be changed to “ie” when the tense is changed. The test will be next Friday. Defy= defied, supply= supplied, apply= applies, pretty= prettiest, angry= angrily, happy=happier, dry= dried, ceremony= ceremonies, story= stories, lie= lying, die= dying, pay= paid, lazy= laziness, empty= emptiness, ugly= ugliness.
Science: This week we will start a new unit on how humans and animals positively and negatively affect their ecosystems. What are invasive species? How do they intrude ecosystems?
Social Studies: This week we will look at the different Civil Rights Supreme Court cases that changed racial segregation in the United States. Quiz this Thursday.
Theology: This week, we will continue to learn about all of the laws, doctrines and rules God/the Church have given us; The Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes, the Law of Love, the Nicene Creed, etc. Why are these rules important to follow? What are the consequences of breaking these laws?
4th Grade Social Studies: This week, the students will be immersed in the executive branch of government. What are the 15 different cabinet positions? What are the roles of the president? Who is in the current executive administration? Quiz Friday on 3 branches of government handouts.
6th Grade Social Studies: This week we will begin a new unit on the Dark/Middle Ages. Why is this era called “dark”? Quiz this Friday on notes!
