Dear Parents,

I hope everyone had a pleasant three day weekend! We may have a shorter week of school, but we still have lots of fun and learning to do!

This week in ELA, we will be learning and recognizing different text genres. We have covered this throughout the school year so this will give students more opportunity to identify genres of text. In Math, we will be learning about identifying the most and fewest, as well as solving out problems. In Science, we will be identifying uses of plants. And in Social Studies, we will be beginning our unit on American history through learning about American symbols.

Next Monday, the class will take the sight word quiz for the words listed below. We are completing their progress quizzes now and those will be sent home this week.

Have a wonderful and blessed week,

Dear Parents,

I hope everyone is having a wonderful week! As a reminder, next Monday there will not be any school.

This week in ELA, we are exploring books by looking at elements of a story. In Math, we are learning about comparing objects by weight and reviewing patterns. In Science, we are finishing our lessons on identifying parts of a plant. And in Social Studies, we are reviewing our unit on community helpers and earning money.

As mentioned last week, we will be having an in-class Valentine’s Day party this Friday. It will be held in the afternoon before they have Reading Buddies and Physical Education. If you would like to provide anything for the party it would be very much appreciated. Such things as drinks and food are mostly what we would need. During this time, students’ will be able to exchange their Valentine cards with each other and we will be working on some crafts.

Dear Parents,

Happy February! January flew by and now it is already the second month of the new year. This month we have a lot of exciting events planned such as the Auction and a class Valentine’s Day party that I will detail more at the end of this newsletter.

This week in ELA, we are continuing to work on syllables which has been a lot of fun for K-5 and a lesson they have been enjoying thoroughly. In Math, we are learning more about money, telling time by the hour, and identifying before, after, and between. In Science, we are identifying the basic parts of plants. And in Social Studies, we are learning about jobs and earning money from those jobs.

As mentioned above, we will be having an in-class Valentine’s Day party next Friday. It will be held in the afternoon before they have Reading Buddies and Physical Education. It is nearly Christmas break and the classroom is abuzz with excitement for all that is to come over break! This week we will be having many special events including the School Music Program this Thursday, the nineteenth. Also, for any students that attended last week’s Our Lady of Guadalupe Mass & Celebration, they will receive a ticket in today’s packet stating they can have a dress down day on the nineteenth.

This week, we continue to practice with our medial CVC sounds in ELA. In Science and Social Studies we are having a review of previous units. And in Math, we are practicing a variety of skill points such as graphing, sorting by three attributes, and practicing with ordinal numbers up to four.

Also, this Friday we will be having a class party where students will be watching a movie and enjoying treats. If you would like to bring anything, we are need of treats and drinks to provide. Any help is greatly appreciated.
