This week we have our second Junior Achievement class. They will discuss how to set goals for their financial future and how to apply decision making to their education and career choices.

Please remember to check the list for your child’s week to be our Snack Shack managers. Snack Shack has been going well and the students are having a great time selling the snacks and seeing the results of their hard work on the financial report! This week our Snack Shack managers are Morgan Hall and Mikayla Rager. Parents we are running low on snacks so please help us purchase more. However, do not spend more than $10-$15 on snacks. 4th Grade Math:  We will continue discussing the relationship between decimals and fractions. We will review how to add and subtract decimals and begin discussing how to multiply and divide monetary amounts. Students can use the review games and math videos below to practice math skills by playing fun math games and watching short lessons on math skills.

5th Grade Math: We will begin discussing customary units of measurement and how to convert between the different units of measurement. Students can use the review games and math videos above to practice math skills by playing fun math games and watching short lessons on math skills.

6th Grade Reading:   We will continue reading our next novel, The Westing Game, which is a mystery. We will be discussing the many characters, the characteristics of a mystery, and the students will be answering questions about important information from each chapter.

The Spelling and Vocabulary test will be given on Friday, March 10th. The words are in the document below.

6th Grade Religion: We will continue discussing the Sacraments of Initiation and Lent. Then, we will begin discussing the Sacraments of Healing.

6th Grade Science: We continue discussing the characteristics of weather, weather patterns, and hazardous weather. Students can use the videos below to study. The students will take the Weather Test on Tuesday, March 14th.

6th Math: We will continue discussing computing with integers. We will also discuss solving order of operation problems and expressions with integers.

This week we will begin the Liturgical season of Lent. We will be discussing how Lent is a time to focus on becoming closer to Jesus through almsgiving, prayer, and fasting. The students will be given a Lenten book similar to their Advent book to fill out during the Lenten season.

This week we will have an exciting event happening during our PTO meeting. There will be STEM presentations from each class that night. Plus all families that attend will receive a “Dress down” day from Mrs. Preston (she will announce the date of the “Dress down” day at a later time). Also I know Mrs. Rice and Mrs. Dennis have been working hard to organize another fundraising opportunity during the PTO meeting. Our Sixth grade families will also be selling dinner, blind bags, and baked goods to help defer the cost of the Washington DC trip. I hope to see you all there!
