A Note From Mrs. Phillips
The weather is turning cold! Be sure to bundle up and send warm clothes for recess. Hopefully we will get outside despite the rain.
The class will be attending the Veteran’s Day Parade on Monday. PE uniforms please and dress warmly. All Safe Haven cleared parents are welcome to join us! Thank you to Mr. Miles for allowing our school to use your business to watch from.
In class this week…
Religion: In religion this month, the class will discuss the various saints that are a part of our heavenly community. The students will be researching a saint and creating an in-class virtual project based on their saint.
Reading: The students will continue through Willy Wonka’s world this week. We are nearing the end of our journey. What will happen to Mike Teevee? Where will the glass elevator take us? We will answer these questions and more!
Language Arts: The class will continue nouns this week, specifically common vs proper and begin plural nouns. Also, our spelling test, focused on the /ow/ sound, will be on Friday. STAR homework due Friday.
Math: This week in math, we will continue time and add in temperature. It ties in nicely with our science lessons on weather. In this series, we do not test until after we are finished the 10th lesson and we completed three lessons last week.
Science: We will continue our weather unit! We will learn various weather tools and how to use them properly.
Social Studies: The class will continue map skills by working with latitude and longitude as well as coordinates more this week. It is important to understand how to read a map and what coordinates are and how to plot them.
