A Note from Mrs. Grant

This week we will have a 2pm dismissal on Monday, October 7th. I am also excited to share my classroom with your grandparents on Friday, October 11th, which will also be an 11:30am dismissal. The schedule for Grandparents Day is as follows:

8:00-9:15am: PE at the Conservatory of Dance

9:15-10:15: Classroom visit with Mrs. Grant

10:15-10:30: Photo Booth in the Music Room

10:30-11:00am: Book Fair in the Library

11:00-11:30: Preparing to leave

Snack Shack is going very well! Please remember to check the list for your child’s week to be our Snack Shack managers. Our next Snack Shack manager is Camilla Salas. Snacks and the receipts must be brought in on Wednesday, October 16th. Snack Shack will be on Friday, October 18th. Thank you for supporting the sixth grade in their business endeavor.          

Below is a list of the students who are on Honor Guard this week. If your student is participating, they must stay until the end. Please do not pick them up during car line unless I have been given a note. Thank you for your support!

This Week in Class

5th Grade

Math: We will be discussing how to solve combining and separating word problems, and multiplication. The test will be given on Tuesday, October 8th. Then, we will discuss multiplication word problems and solving multiplication problems with missing factors. Students can use the review games and math videos below to practice math skills by playing fun math games and watching short lessons on math skills.

Math Practice Games

Science: We will discuss vertebrate and invertebrate animals. Then, we will discuss vascular and nonvascular plants.

6th Grade

Math: We will be discuss fractions and mixed numbers. The quiz will be given on Thursday, October 10th.

Science: We will continue discussing plate tectonics and the different types of plate boundaries. There will be a quiz on Thursday, October 17th.

Social Studies: The students will take the Mesopotamia test on Tuesday, October 8th. Then, we will begin discussing the culture of Egypt.

Religion: We will discuss the how God spoke to Abraham and Sarah, and we can hear God speaking to us today. He established a Covenant with Abraham and Sarah. God calls us to know him and to help other people to know him. The quiz will be given on Tuesday, October 8th. Then, we will begin discussing the story of Issac’s sons, Jacob and Esau, and how Jacob tricked Issac into giving him the blessing instead of his brother.

The Spelling and Vocabulary test will be given on Friday, October 18th. The words are listed in the document below.
