Welcome back to school! I am excited to begin another year here at St. Peter’s. It is sure to be packed with learning, creating, and exploring. Your children are about to enter a pivotal year in their educational lives. In third grade, not only are we learning academic basics, but we are beginning to learn how to think critically. Your children are growing up! We will work on responsibility, organization, and being self-aware all while learning our multiplication tables, reading to learn, and so much more.
This first week, the class will work on classroom and school routines, procedures, and safety lessons. We will also get to know each other better as learners and friends. We have several new students joining us this year and I eagerly await their arrival and to learn more about each of them. By the end of the week, your child will have a STAR binder they will bring home. We will discuss this at Back to School Night on the 28th, but feel free to look through it and familiarize yourself with some of our classroom workings. This binder will be the connection between school and home.
In case you might not think your little one is telling you the correct information, we will not have any homework this first week. Take this time to get back into the swing of things as a family and to finish up those summer reading projects which are due by Friday.
I hope everyone has a wonderful first week back!
